Westminster parents have just over two weeks left to secure 30 hours of free weekly childcare starting in January 2018, which could save families up to £5,000 a year.
Westminster City Council is today urging all working parents of children aged 3-4 to visit the Childcare Choices website to check their children’s eligibility and apply for places before the 31 December deadline for January commencements.
Parents already using the offer must also reconfirm their eligibility to use the scheme by updating their details through Childcare Choices every three months.
Eligible parents could benefit from more than 1,100 hours of free childcare in 2018, which can be used flexibly with one or more childcare providers.
Councillor Richard Holloway, Cabinet Member for Children, Families and Young People said:
“I’m urging parents across Westminster to check their eligibility for the 30 hours of free childcare on offer. We’re working with childcare providers to ensure that parents struggling to balance their jobs with the cost of childcare can take up this offer and enjoy their precious family time even more.”
Elizabeth Hillyard, Headteacher of Tachbrook Nursery School said:
“The childcare offer is an opportunity for eligible working parents to receive 30 hours of free childcare per week. Tachbrook nursery has been pleased to offer 30 hours of education per week to Westminster children and support Westminster parents.”
The 30 hours’ initiative is funded by the Department of Education and aims to help parents achieve greater balance between their work and family lives.
The offer is open to children aged 3-4 only with working parents earning less than £100,000 per year.
