Join the volunteer team at Doorstep Library

Doorstep Library is a community-focused charity dedicated to bringing the gift of books and the joy of reading to children and families. It needs people with a passion for reading to support families with home reading opportunities.

Homework Volunteers for Cardinal Hume Centre

The Cardinal Hume Centre is looking for volunteers with teaching experience who can work with one or two primary school-aged children on Fridays (from 3.30pm to 5.30pm) and support them with their school homework.

Caxton Youth Organisation Minibus Driver

The Caxton Youth Organisation is looking for a volunteer minibus driver to pick up young people across the city and bring them to and from youth club sessions. A driver’s license is required and volunteers will need to complete MiDAS training and Autism Awareness training.

Do you have two to three hours to spare on Saturdays? Are you a skilled reader? Real Action is looking for classroom volunteers to assist in helping young children from disadvantaged backgrounds learn how to read.

Volunteer as a mentor with The Kids Network

Connect with your local community and explore London as a volunteer mentor with The Kids Network. As a Volunteer Mentor, you would:

  • Support children aged eight to eleven during a crucial stage in their social and emotional development
  • Focus on the individual needs of a mentee – building confidence, supporting resilience, developing the tools to manage feelings for a positive future, and lots more.

Green Fingers Gardening Service 

Westminster Connects has introduced a new gardening service to help support residents that need help with their garden upkeep. As a volunteer you can support with weeding, tidying up and replanting. You would need to bring your own gardening equipment and you should have some gardening experience.

Volunteer Drivers for Westminster Connects

Westminster Connects is looking for volunteers with access to a vehicle and a valid driver’s licence to support residents with deliveries of food, prescriptions and to accompany vulnerable and elderly adults to hospital appointments. You will only be contacted when we have a Westminster resident in need that is not too far from your postcode.

  • Volunteers to register owners wishing to enter their dogs and record judging scores – a gazebo/area will be provided for this
  • Volunteers to help with marshalling & directing owners as they enter the judging area

A befriender provides a valuable service to our organisation by spending their time with an older isolated person. Ideally, a befriender visits once a week for a friendly chat over a cup of coffee/tea, maybe accompany them on a short walk or run small errands together with them.

Age UK Exercise at Home Programme Volunteer

Working side by side with the Fit4Life co-ordinator, you will spend one to two hours a week supporting a client with exercise sessions prescribed/agreed beforehand by the co-ordinator. You will be provided with all the necessary training and will be supported throughout your volunteering experience.

The charity is currently looking for Digital Support volunteers to provide face-to-face, telephone and online support to its clients who need help with learning how to use their digital devices more effectively.

The University of Westminster is looking for a team of mentors to support with delivering Group Mentoring sessions to final year undergraduate students who are completing the ‘Employability and Leadership’ and ‘Practice and Leadership’ modules on the BA Business Management and BA Business Management and Marketing degree programmes.

The Abbey Centre is currently looking to recruit volunteers to provide support at its Community Pantry, providing access to affordable food for local people.

The Abbey Centre Community Pantry Personal Shopper

Volunteers are needed to support the Community Pantry as Personal Shoppers on Wednesdays and/or Fridays from 8.30am to 2.30pm. As a volunteer you will be helping with the following tasks:

  • Assisting and supporting the Pantry team
  • Helping to set up the Pantry and clear away at each shift, and lots more

Admin/Receptionist volunteers are needed to support the running of The Abbey Centre at least one day a week, Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm.

One Westminster has resumed its fortnightly volunteer drop-in sessions at its offices in Chapel Street. If you want support finding your ideal volunteering role with a Westminster voluntary organisation or community group, simply drop in on 11 or 25 October, from 1pm to 3pm.
