Torridon House car park redevelopment

About the project

The council was granted planning permission in 2020 to redevelop Torridon House Car Park in Maida Vale ward.

The proposals will deliver:

  • 21 new affordable homes for social rent
  • a mix of 1, 2, 3 and 4-bedroom homes, many will be family sized
  • landscaping improvements
  • 34 extra cycle parking spaces
  • homes that will be offered to local people first through a Local Lettings Plan

Project status

The Torridon car park development in Maida Vale, forms part of our infills programme which transforms underused spaces across Westminster into much-needed homes.

We have appointed Osborne as our construction partner who are in possession of the site and construction work is underway.

The construction commences in January 2023 and is scheduled to complete Summer 2024.

Health and Safety

Rigorous safety checks take place before any development to ensure the soil on a construction site is safe before works begin.

Several reports have been commissioned to assess the contamination of the Torridon Car Park development.

The reports shows very low levels of contaminants in the soil. This is completely normal for a construction site in an urban area. We want to offer reassurance that any small risk posed by these contaminants has been carefully considered and mitigated in the plans to redevelop the site.

The contaminants do not pose a health risk to residents in the area or neighbouring areas during construction or following the completion of the project.

Thank you to all of you who came to our January residents’ meeting to discuss health and safety matters around the site. Here are the key actions from the meeting:
