Thurso House
About the project
The council submitted a planning application to redevelop a carpark between Thurso House and Strome House in 2021. We were granted planning permission in January 2022, subject to Section 106 Agreements.
The project would deliver:
- four self-contained homes, all for social rent
- three three-bedroom and one two-bedroom homes, all of which are family sized
- one fully accessible two-bedroom home on the ground floor with outdoor space
- designed using Passivhaus principles
- designed using Secured by Design principles
- new entrance to Forty Tree Green Park
Project status
We submitted a planning application in October 2021 for proposals to deliver four new family-sized social homes on the site of the car park next to Thurso House. Planning permission was granted this year, subject to Section 106 agreements being made.
In the context of a challenging time for the construction industry, and with increased costs for delivery being quoted by contractors across all our Infills Programme sites, we have taken this opportunity to pause and review the cost and construction plans to ensure new homes at Thurso can be delivered in a way which achieves best value.
This site presents an opportunity for much-needed new homes and the Council will keep residents informed of updates about our plans here.
Background documents
We consulted with the local community ahead of submitting for planning consent in October 2021.
