3. Healthy workplaces

The Healthy Workplace Charter is a framework for action that helps employers build good practice in health and wellbeing in their organisation. As an employer in Westminster, you are eligible for the added benefits of free employee health checks and subsidised mental health and wellbeing training for managers.

4. Flexible working

Timewise Foundation is a community interest company set up to help businesses unlock the benefits of flexible hiring. The council as an employer works with the foundation.

It's free for employers to sign up and can help increase traffic to your jobsite if you are willing to talk to candidates about flexible working.

Retailers

See the foundation’s guide aimed at improving progression of your employees by offering more senior roles on a flexible or part-time basis.

5. ACE grants to help your business

ACE is a Groundwork-led, pan London partnership funded by The Big Lottery ESF Building Better Opportunities programme. By 2020, the programme aims to help 900 people living with disabilities and long-term health conditions to make the transition into sustainable employment.

As part of this, we are working in Westminster with the City Council and its partners to maximise the number of residents who can access support from ACE. 

Who it's for

People who are 25 years and over, out of work for the previous 18 months, living in a London borough with a disability or long-term health condition.

What we offer

For the individual

  • one to one support and specialist advice
  • matching and preparing you for appropriate and suitable employment
  • finding the right employer and vacancy for you
  • providing in‐work support to help you settle into your new roles.

For employers

  • free tailored support to help you recruit locally
  • subsidised wage costs to cover the initial months
  • continued in-work support to your candidate during and after the subsidised period
  • free training including disability equality training to help you become a disability aware business
