The Advisor Academy is a free training and professional development programme provided by Westminster City Council for employment and other front-line advisors operating in Westminster.
With over 20 topic areas covered through training sessions, peer-to peer learning and networking, the Advisor Academy helps professionals develop and keep up to date with the skills and techniques needed to support clients with multiple and often complex needs in a changing landscape.
We want all our residents to receive high quality employment support when needed, from the right service, to enable tailored and holistic support. We hope, therefore, our free offer of the Advisor Academy to all relevant professionals provides a great opportunity for them to build on their skills and continually develop as professionals.
Launched in April 2016, the service has benefited over 110 advisors from local charities, Jobcentre Plus, DWP contractors, local authorities, housing providers and other partners. All of our sessions have been rated as excellent or good by those that have attended. There are a wide range of topics covered, including motivational interviewing, housing, drug and alcohol awareness, dealing with convictions, childcare innovations and much more.
If you are an employment advisor or another frontline specialist advisor operating in Westminster or the surrounding area and you would like to get involved or attend one of our training sessions, all for free, then send an email listing your current job title, the client group your service or team supports and the geographical area in which you work to Ruth Kebedom firstname.lastname@example.org.
Ruth Kebedom is the training manager within the Westminster Employment team and can be reached on 020 7641 2691. Contact us if you would like to discuss the Advisor Academy or other employment support-related training opportunities and needs,
