City Management and Communities

"The City Management and Communities Directorate is responsible for making Westminster the fantastic place that it is to live and work in and to visit."
- Stuart Love, Executive Director for City Management and Communities

Who we are

The City Management and Communities directorate is responsible for managing and maintaining the City’s infrastructure and ensuring its safety.

Westminster has more shops than Paris and more than a million visitors per day enter our city. It is therefore vital that we create an environment that is welcoming to visitors and where businesses and residents can flourish. This means innovating to take advantage of the unique set of opportunities Westminster presents, as well as tackling problems quickly where they arise.

Westminster has some of the Country’s leading ‘Best Practice’ programmes for sports clubs and talented athletes to help meet Public Health outcomes, as well as a significant Competition Programme for Children and Young People.

Libraries operate as a single service for the councils of the City of Westminster, the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham and the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea.
