The Summer Reading Challenge, by The Reading Agency, encourages children aged 4 to 11 to set themselves a reading challenge to help prevent the summer reading 'dip'.
This year, Silly Squad, the Summer Reading Challenge for 2020, will celebrate funny books, happiness and laughter. Children taking part in this year’s challenge will join the Silly Squad, an adventurous team of animals who love to have a laugh and get stuck into all different kinds of funny books.
To join the Silly Squad and take part in this year, visit the Summer Reading Challenge website.
Watch this award winning music and dance class from the comfort of your own home - hide under a parachute, wave the pom-poms, shake the maracas, dance with bubbles and sing along!
As well as the all-time favourite rhymes and songs and meeting Mr Tiny, Tiny Tunes gets the little ones dancing to some of the well known pop classics. Grab anything that rattles or shakes and a scarf or a ribbon that you can wave from your home.
These sessions can help build children's self-confidence. Early music exposure can also help promote critical listening skills, language and literacy, creativity and coordination in the future.
Join us for this course of online jewellery workshops for children to learn how to make super beaded bracelets. Materials for the course will be posted to you after booking. These sessions are perfect for children who want to learn something fun and creative online this summer. All it takes is a Zoom account and you are ready to go!
Each session will be led by Billie, our amazing volunteer at Mayfair Library. With Billie you will learn how to make stretchy bracelets with a variety of colourful glass, wooden and resin beads. Once you have booked your place we will send you a bag containing beads and strings, enough for you to make four different bracelets.
Tickets are £5.98 for all sessions.

Come along to this special Summer Reading Challenge event and meet a lifelong space cadet who has discovered that poems are the best place to gather all his daydreamy thoughts. What's more, James believes that daydreaming for ten minutes every day should be compulsory.
