Free broadband to help home schooling

You may be eligible to receive free broadband to help with home schooling

The council is working with Community Fibre and Hyperoptic to provide free broadband to residents that are having difficulty accessing school work at home.

Please note if you have an existing connection with one of the specified providers that exceeds the speed stated in the criteria, you will be ineligible for the offer.

What is on offer

Hyperoptic

  • 50Mbps fibre broadband service until 31 August 2021

To be eligible you must:

  • have school-aged children (under 18) learning from home
  • don’t currently have access to reliable broadband at home (slower than 30Mbps)
  • are tenants of the local authority
  • live in a Hyperoptic connected building

G.Network

  • 150Mbps download / 50Mbps upload fibre broadband service until 31 August 2021

To be eligible you must:

  • have school-aged children (under 18) learning from home
  • be in receipt of free school meals
  • don’t currently have access to reliable broadband at home (slower than 30Mbps)
  • be in a G.Network connected building or in a property where landlord consent can be obtained for the installation if you're building is in close proximity to their existing network
