Becoming a childcare provider

Information on how to become an Ofsted registered childminder or nanny. Find out about the next home based childcare sessions.

Bi-Borough Childcare and Early Education Service hosts free information sessions for those interested in a career in the childcare sector.

For details of the next two-hour childminder information session and the subsequent home-based childcare course (chargeable) please contact the Childcare and Early Education Service via [email protected] or call 020 7641 7929.

Alternatively there are a number of organisations that offer online training courses including Pacey who offer an online course. Find out more about completing the course.  

Register online on the Early Years Register or the Childcare Register

Visit the Ofsted Online website to register on the Early Years Register and the Childcare Register. You will need to create an account to use Ofsted Online.

Registering as a nanny

People who care for children in the child’s own home do not normally need to register with Ofsted. However, you can opt to register on the voluntary section of the Childcare Register if you wish to do so.
