Become a foster family-friendly employer

Foster carers help provide stability and a loving home children in our community who are unable to live at home with their family. 

We need more people to come forward as foster carers and as an employer there are things you can do to help your staff who are foster carers, or who may be thinking about fostering.

  • offer flexible working hours – foster carers often need to attend meetings around their child’s care, or training to support their child.
  • consider adapting your child care and leave policies to cover foster carers
  • ensure staff are able to balance their work and caring responsibilities
  • promote the need for more foster carers.

Many companies including Tesco and the Department for Education have become ‘Foster Friendly’ employers who promote the support they offer foster carers.
