It’s never too early to start to think about your future. Join us for one of our apprenticeship programmes and gain the best experience in helping you achieve your future career.

We are looking for people who are passionate about a career in local government. We’re not focused on your qualifications or work experience, but on whether you have the drive, commitment and ideas. We have already had a large number of apprentices successfully complete our programme and many have gone on to secure roles within the Council.

What you can expect

Our apprenticeship programmes last for 12 months or longer, depending on the qualification, and have lots to offer, including:

• a competitive apprenticeship salary
• a nationally-recognised qualification
• valuable hands on experience working alongside experts
• guidance and career support every step of the way

Who can apply

Westminster apprenticeships are a great way to continue your education but within a workplace environment, perfect for school or college leavers or people returning to work. You might have some work experience, or none at all.

We are looking for fresh new talent from all walks of life who can flourish with us here at Westminster.

How you can get on board

Our opportunities open at three main times throughout the year – in June for a September start, October for a January start and February for a May start, offering different apprenticeships opportunities.

Current vacancies

We are currently recruiting the following positions

Commercial apprentices – closing date 3 July 2017

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Procurement Services Team at Westminster City Council. We are looking for 3 apprentices to join our team. This is truly a one-off chance to be part of a skilled and high performing team which is widely recognised as ‘an outstanding commercially focused team’. Make no mistake; this challenging role in procurement will be high profile and demanding as we continue to introduce new operating models, processes and systems to provide a more commercial focus to the council’s spend.

“As an apprentice, I have learnt more than I imagined. Not only have I grown professionally and strengthened my confidence, it has also broadened my knowledge about Westminster where I’ve lived since I was born. It feels great to be able to contribute to my community this way.

The fact that I am working towards a National Vocation Qualification in Business Administration makes this more than just a job, and the hands-on experience has made me certain that I still want to do this 5 years down the line. If you think an apprenticeship is for you, I only have 3 words to say: go for it!”

Charley-Mae Foster, 22, apprentice with the council's Policy, Performance and Communications team.
