Apprenticeships

Apprenticeships are paid, on-the-job training placements which give you a practical insight into what working in a particular role is like. They are available across a wide range of industries, and usually take between one to 4 years to complete depending on which level you take.

Westminster City Council apprenticeships

Westminster is a City of Talent and the council is committed to offering high quality apprenticeships to dedicated 16 to 24 year olds who want an opportunity to earn and learn.

As a Westminster apprentice, you will:

  • gain work experience
  • get on-the-job training
  • boost your skills
  • study towards nationally recognised qualifications
  • get paid

“As an apprentice, I have learnt more than I imagined. Not only have I grown professionally and strengthened my confidence, it has also broadened my knowledge about Westminster where I’ve lived since I was born. It feels great to be able to contribute to my community this way.

The fact that I am working towards a National Vocation Qualification in Business Administration makes this more than just a job, and the hands-on experience has made me certain that I still want to do this 5 years down the line. If you think an apprenticeship is for you, I only have 3 words to say: go for it!”

Charley-Mae Foster, 22, apprentice with the council's Policy, Performance and Communications team.
