About procurement and commercial services

Information about how procurement services in the council are managed.

Procurement and Commercial Services are undergoing a radical transformation.

  • a new director of commercial partnerships post, with responsibility for strategic leadership of over £600m of annual third-party expenditure
  • an expanded, strengthened senior management team with professional leads across all key disciplines
  • a home in the new Finance and Resources directorate, with strong support and sponsorship from the Executive Director for Finance and Resources
  • direct alignment between procurement resource and the council's main departments, which has already radically improved collaboration and customer satisfaction and is positioning procurement as a trusted organisational partner
  • for the first time, bringing together procurement activity for all services, including corporate, place-based, adults, children’s and public health
  • sharing several aspects of the service on a bi-borough basis between Westminster City Council and the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea – including procurement for adult, children and public health services across both council's

As part of these ambitious developments, we are reshaping and enlarging the team of commercial specialists.
