Representation of the People Act 1983

Sections 18A, 18B, 18C, 18D and 18E and Schedule A1 (as amended by section 17 of the Electoral Registration and Administration Act 2013)

In accordance with the requirements of Section 18C of the Representation of the People Act 1983 (as amended), notice is hereby given that the City of Westminster is undertaking a review of polling districts and polling places.

New Westminster wards will come into effect for voting purposes at the council elections on 5 May 2022. As a consequence of this a review of polling districts and polling places is required.

The consultation period will commence on 5 July 2021 and will end on 3 August 2021. This review is be completed in sufficient time to enable the Electoral Registration Officer to make any alterations necessary to the Register of Electors when it is next fully revised by 1 December 2021.

The (Acting) Returning Officer will submit proposals for polling districts and polling places venues for the 18 Westminster wards which will come into effect for voting purposes on 5 May 2022.

Any person or organisation may make representation.

Representations will be sought from any person or organisation with expertise in relation to access to premises or facilities for persons who have different forms of disability.

Any registered elector within the electoral area may make representation on their proposed polling district or on the location and suitability of their polling place and, where appropriate, include alternative venue suggestions.

Anyone unable to make representation using any of the above means should telephone the Electoral Services on 020 7641 2730 for assistance.

The deadline for receipt of representations is 3 August 2021 and any representations received will be available for public inspection.

This review coincides with another different review commenced by the Boundary Commission for England (BCE) which is required to report on new parliamentary constituencies by July 2023. The BCE  has used the 18 Westminster wards (which will come into effect on 5 May 2022) and not the 20 existing Westminster wards to form its review.
