Information about the General Election and new constituency boundaries in Westminster.

The UK Parliamentary general election will take place on Thursday 4 July 2024.

Who can vote

To vote in the general election, you must:

  • be registered to vote
  • be 18 or over on polling day, 4 July
  • be a British, Irish or qualifying Commonwealth citizen
  • be resident at an address in the UK or living abroad and registered as an overseas voter

Voter ID

The UK Government has introduced a requirement for voters to show photo ID when voting at a polling station at elections.
