About integrated working

The Integrated Working (IW) project aims to improve information sharing and communication within and between all agencies supporting children, young people and their families.

Through better joined up working and identification of need at an earlier stage, it is hoped that more children will reach their full potential and reach the five Every Child Matters outcomes.

You can find out more information about key initiatives being introduced to build on current practice by following the links on the left hand side panel including:

  • Common Assessment Framework (CAF) - a standardised, multi-agency tool to help practitioners assess children's additional needs for services earlier and more effectively.
  • Lead Professional (LP) - where more than one agency is involved in supporting a child, we want one professional to oversee the case.
  • Information Sharing - easy to understand guidance on the what's, when's, how's and why's of information sharing.
  • ContactPoint - a national system to help practitioners to find out who else might be working with a child and whether there is any useful information available to share.
  • WISH Directory - your first port of call for information about services available in Westminster
