US Embassy Anti-Terrorism Traffic Regulation Order
The Westminster City Council has made an Anti-Terrorism Traffic Regulation Order (ATTRO), which came into operation on 2 March 2007.
This gives the Metropolitan Police the following powers:
- prohibit pedestrians and vehicles from entering or proceeding in Blackburne’s Mews and that part of Culross Street between its junctions with Park Street and Blackburne’s Mews at all times, except those authorised by the police
- prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in the south-western arm of Grosvenor Square (fronting the American Embassy) at all times, except those authorised by the police
- allow the police, at their discretion, to prohibit pedestrians and vehicles from entering or proceeding in all or part of Upper Brook Street and Upper Grosvenor Street between their junctions with Park Street and Grosvenor Square
- allow the police, at their discretion, to prohibit pedestrians from entering or proceeding in all or part of the south-western arm of Grosvenor Square (fronting the American Embassy).
