Public Consultation - October 2006In July 2006, the American Embassy in Grosvenor Square obtained planning permission from Westminster City Council for a number of measures to enhance security around the American Embassy. The planning permission contains an obligation on the American Embassy to fund highway improvements and traffic management measures to the surrounding area, and the city council has now received funding for these measures.
A focus group was established at the end of 2005 to assist the council in preparing suitable traffic management measures for the area. The group involved ward councillors, local residents, businesses and other interested parties. After considering a number of requests that have been put forward through the focus group, an initial package of traffic management measures are being proposed were presented to the public for formal consultation during October 2006.
