Bank and Public Holidays

photo of Big Ben on New Year's EveOn Bank Holidays and Public Holidays, the guidelines for parking your vehicle may differ from the usual hours of control.

It is a common misconception that, because it is a Bank or Public Holiday, parking is free of charge. While this is the case for some parts of Westminster, there are differences that apply for certain types of parking bays in each zone (i.e. resident bays) and you should check before you park.

This section will be updated throughout the year with information on parking controls for Bank Holidays and Public Holidays (including Christmas and New Year).

* This includes meter, Pay by Phone, Pay and Display and parking bays that have a shared use between Pay & Display and Resident parking.

Resident parking only bays will continue to be enforced over the Bank Holiday in some sub zones (except Christmas Day) and you should check the times that these spaces are controlled. If you park in a resident parking space without displaying a valid resident permit during the controlled hours, you may be issued with a Penalty Charge Notice and your vehicle may also be relocated or removed.

Other permit holder only bays (i.e. disabled, doctor, hospital) are also enforced over the Bank Holiday (except Christmas Day).  If you park in one of these bays without displaying the relevant permit, you may be issued with a Penalty Charge Notice and your vehicle may also be relocated or removed.
