In 2006 we had 4500 spaces on street.

What is the motorcycle parking capacity at present?

When and where was consultation undertaken regarding extended motorcycle parking?
The consultation for new and extended motorcycle parking took place during July/August 2007.  The extend of the letter consultation included 60 ward councillors, 25 local residents' associations and 15 statutory bodies.  Westminster has also consulted local businesses and motorcycle action groups and carried out occupancy surveys.  The consultation process is ongoing and we will be carrying out further occupancy surveys in the future.

What are the plans for where, when and at what cost further parking spaces will be added?
The plans are dependant on the level of takeup of the current provision.  We will be monitoring the use of spaces in all zones and in our car parks.  Once we have carried out an occupancy survey, we can make further recommendations on both space and security measures,

What is the cost breakdown for introducing the new bays?
As of 18th August 2008, Westminster has spent £242,234.  £16,352 has been spent on the Traffic Management Orders, £6,714 in the car parks and £219,168 has been spent on street.

What are the overall projections on income that the council believes it will receive from the new scheme?
It is anticipated to generate £675K gross and £261K net once operating costs are taken out.

Where have the new security features been installed to date?
We have trialled the Sheffield Stands in 9 Sites at: Oxendon Street, Carey Street, Drury Lane, Chandos Place, Upper St.Martin's Lane, Milford Lane, Wardour Street, Suffolk Place and Moscow Road.  Take up has been extremely low (between 3 and 7%).  It is likely that a trial of different security devices will start in September in ten further sites in more residential locations around Bayswater and Maida Vale.
