On street parking

Single and double yellow lines

photo of a double yellow line on streetParking and leaving your vehicle is only permitted on single yellow lines outside of controlled hours (usually from 6.30pm until 8.30am). You cannot park and leave your vehicle on double yellow lines at any time.

Parking on a Single Yellow Line

Parking controls usually start at 8.30am and finish after 6.30pm, so you can park before and after these times without restriction.  Between 8.30am and 6.30pm parking is not permitted, however loading and unloading may be allowed - see below.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Single yellow lines may be accompanied by kerb markings which indicate that additional parking restrictions are in place at different times of the day.  You should look for nearby signs to find out what these times are.

In some areas, the hours of control on single yellow lines end at 1.30pm on a Saturday - use our online map to check the normal hours of control for a particular street

Loading/Unloading on Single and Double Yellow Lines

You are permitted to stop on both single and double yellow lines for the purposes of loading and unloading or picking up passengers, however such activities may be limited at certain times of the day and in all cases, the activity must be seen to be continuous. More information on loading and unloading on yellow lines
