On street parking

Suspended Bays

photo of a yellow suspensions warning signWhen you see a yellow parking suspension sign, this means that ordinary parking facilities have been suspended and parking is temporarily not permitted.  The sign should specify the days and times during which the suspension applies.

If you park in a space that has been suspended, you may be issued a penalty charge notice (PCN) and your vehicle may be removed to the car pound or relocated.

Disabled badge users are NOT permitted to park in suspended bays.

Useful tips

  • photo of a suspension signAlways look up and down the road where you have parked as a suspension sign may not always be directly next to where you have parked your vehicle.  This is because we need to use the nearest lamp column for the sign, which may not be directly adjacent to the suspended area.
  • Read the sign carefully, checking the dates and times during which the suspensions applies.  If you are parking on a date that is different from the sign, then it is safe to park there.
  • Check the detail about the location of the suspension.  A suspension sign is usually placed on the nearest piece of street furniture to where the suspension applies
  • If you are in any doubt about where to park, don't park there or ask one of our Parking attendants for assistance.
  • Where contractors are conducting large scale works such as road surfacing and gully cleaning, suspensions are put in place for the whole day.  However, when these contractors have finished their work, they will place a sticker over the sign to show that they don't need the suspension anymore.  Where you see this sticker, you may park in the bay since the suspension no longer applies.  View the sticker here
