Clamped vehicles

Photo of clamped wheelVehicles parked in contravention may be clamped following the issue of a Penalty Charge Notice (PCN).  Depending on the contravention, clamping can occur immediately after the PCN has been issued.

What should I do?

If you return to your vehicle to find that it has been clamped, you will need pay for the clamp to be removed (£70), as well as the cost of the PCN.

To make payment by phone using a credit or debit card, please contact us - our customer helpline is available 24 hours a day.  Alternatively, if you wish to pay in person, you can visit the City Council's One Stop Services.

If you do not arrange for release of the clamp within 4 hours, the vehicle may be removed and a removal fee of £200, together with the cost of the PCN, will be payable.

I don't agree with the PCN

If you feel that the contravention did not occur and that you have been wrongly clamped, you are still required to pay the charge for the release of your vehicle, as well as the cost of the PCN.  You can then challenge the issue of the PCN and wheel clamp charge.  Challenges must be received within 28 days of the release of your vehicle.
