Congestion charging
The Congestion Charging scheme is not the responsibility of Westminster City Council. Rather it is operated by Transport for London (TfL) on behalf of the Mayor of London. For more information or to pay the charge, please contact TfL on www.cclondon.com or 0845 900 1234.
We want to hear your views
The western extension of the congestion charge scheme commenced operation on 19 February 2007. The Council is very interested to hear your views on any issues you would like raised with Transport for London. Send your comments to

TfL's proposal for a CO2 car emissions based scheme
TfL recently consulted on a proposed amendment to the existing congestion charging scheme to one that charges according to the accredited level of Carbon Dioxide (CO2) emission a car produces.

The City Council has objected to the proposal, fundamentally because it may not necessarily reduce CO2 emissions yet could also be the cause of increased congestion as drivers potentially switch to DVLA Band A and B cars to receive a 100% discount.
