FAQs for service providers

The Family Information Service recieves details of Ofsted registered childcare providers which are submitted to us by Ofsted. The following FAQs may help if you cannot find your details on our webpage or if would like to add your organisation please contact the Family Information Service on 020 7641 7929 or email fis@westminster.gov.uk.

1. How do I become a childminder or childcare provider?

If you are interested in becoming a childminder or childcare provider then you should contact the Family Information Service. Call us on 020 7641 7929 or email us at FIS@westminster.gov.uk or

2. What forms do I need to complete to become a childminder or childcare provider?

The forms that you need to complete will depend on the childcare that you wish to provide and if you are applying to register on the Early Years Register and/or the Childcare Register.

  • Early Years Register – childminder Checklist; Application form for the Early Years Register: childminder (EYC); Declaration and consent form for all individuals connected with a provision registered on the Early Years Register (EY2); Health declaration booklet; Preparing for your registration visit; Paying fees 
  • Early Years Register – childcare on domestic or non-domestic premises Checklist; Application form for the Early Years Register: childcare on domestic or non-domestic premises (EYO); Declaration and consent form for all individuals connected with a provision registered on the Early Years Register (EY2); Notification to Ofsted (EY3); Health declaration booklet; Preparing for your registration visit; Paying fees 
  • Childcare Register If you are applying for the Early Years Register, then forms EYC and EYO include a section where you can apply to register on the Childcare Register.

3. Can I register online on the Early Years Register and/or the Childcare Register?

Please first read the how Ofsted register page in the childcare section. You can then visit the Ofsted Online website. This has registering on the Early Years Register and the Childcare Register among its services; please note you will need to create an account to use Ofsted Online.

4. I am a nanny. How do I register?

People who care for children in the child’s own home do not normally need to register with Ofsted. However, you can opt to register on the voluntary part of the Childcare Register if you wish to do so. You can find out more about how to apply in the Guide to registration on the Childcare Register.

5. How do I find out about careers in childcare?

You can visit the childcare careers website or contact the FIS for details of vacancies in Westminster.

Publications

If you are a childcare provider the FIS can help promote your business free of charge. Download the consent form, complete it and send it back and we will update your details held on our childcare database. We wll then send your details to prospective clients looking for childcare in Westminster.
