'Harrow Road Improvements'

 Under the Civic Streets Scheme, the Council is committed to a programme of regeneration along the Harrow Road district shopping centre. The key objectives of this regeneration programme are to:

  • reduce crime and anti-social behaviour
  • support local economic development
  • improve the general street environment

In 2006, we started the first phase of the Harrow Road Civic Streets programme. This saw a range of "streetscape" improvements delivered along the stretch of Harrow Road between Third Avenue and the Prince of Wales Junction. These improvements were completed in June 2007, and are detailed here.

The second phase of this programme is currently underway, and comprises three projects: 'Regeneration of the Prince of Wales Junction', 'Shopfronts and Street Trading' and 'Half Penny Steps'.
