DfT Winter Maintenance Funding Allocation

In March 2011, the Department of Transport advised that the total amount of extra funding for local highway authorities in England and Wales had been increased to £200m.  The City Council received a grant of £258,010 to help address the damage caused to road surfaces as a result of the severe winter weather experienced in 2010/11.

This very welcome funding has enabled the council to carry out, in addition to its normal road programme, extensive patching and resurfacing of roads left damaged by the winter weather and to fund the additional pressure on our reactive repairs that has been caused by the increase in defects we have seen.

You can find further details of how the funding has been allocated by downloading a copy of the advice to the Department of Transport below.
