What Happens Next?
Following the Cabinet Member for City Management’s decision of 6 January 2010 to introduce as proposed the permanent traffic orders for the motorcycle charging scheme, the orders were made on Monday 18 January 2010, published on Friday 22 January 2010 and came into force on Monday 25 January 2010.
Under the permanent traffic orders the price of a residents’ permit for a motorcycle has been reduced to £50 per annum regardless of engine size. From 25 January 2010 holders of a residents’ permit for a motorcycle are able to apply for a refund of the price differential for full, unused months remaining on their current permit.
In April 2010, we introduced 'virtual', electronic resident's permits for motorcycles adminsitered through the Pay by Phone scheme to replace the traditional paper permits.
We have recommenced installing security devices at dedicated motorcycle bays where deemed appropriate and practicable.
