Parking Card FAQs

1. Where can I buy Parking Cards?

Parking Cards are available at all Westminster City Council's libraries and Post Offices in Westminster only.

2. Can I give Parking Cards to my friends & family when they come to stay?

Absolutely. You can buy a stock of cards in advance to give to your visitors. This takes away the hassle of buying Parking Cards on the day your visitors arrive.

3. I want to park for less than £2.40 worth of parking. Isn't there a £1 Parking Card?

No. Parking Cards are only available as £2.40 or £4.40 cards. If you wish to pay for less than £2.40 worth of parking you must use an alternative pay method such as Pay by Phone or Pay & Display.

4. Can I get a refund on any unused or partially used cards?

No. Parking Cards are not refundable but we disregard the expiry date so discontinued cards (such as £2.00 and £2.20 denominations) can continue to be used.

5. If my parking costs £8.80, how can I pay for parking using a Parking Card?

If your parking costs more than £4.40 you can use more than one card to cover the cost. So for example if you want £8.80 worth of parking you could use two £4.40 cards or four £2.20 cards. Remember though that the arrival date and time on all the cards should be the same and all the cards must be placed carefully on your dashboard so the details are clearly visible to the Civil Enforcement Officer.

6. How do I know when my paid-for parking time has expired?

When you arrive in a parking bay you should note the charge per hour. This varies according to the parking zone and will be between £1.20 and £4.40.

The table below shows how long you can park for in each zone with a £2.00, £2.20, £2.40, £4.00 or a £4.40 parking card.

7. Can I leave my vehicle unattended while I go and purchase a Parking Card?

We recommend you buy your Parking Card before you park as you may only leave your vehicle unattended for 5 minutes before a Penalty Charge Notice can be issued.

8. If I scratch off part of the Parking Card incorrectly, can I still use it or get it replaced?

No. If a part has been scratched incorrectly the card will not be valid and you will be liable for enforcement action if you use when parking. No replacement or refund will be offered.

9. How do I pay for one hour's parking in the zones that charge £3.30 per hour?

In this case you would have to pay £4.40 to park for one hour (one £4.40 card or two £2.20 cards). This payment would allow you to stay for 1 hour 20 minutes. Alternatively you might want to consider another method of payment.

10. How do I pay for one hour parking in C Zone which only costs £1.20 per hour?

In this case you would have to pay £2.40 to park for one hour. This payment would allow you to stay for 2 hours. Alternatively you might want to consider another method of payment.

11. Can I use a Parking Card if I am a taxi or coach driver?

Yes, though your vehicle must be parked within any relevant parking bay markings. Parking Cards are only valid within the City of Westminster.

12. Can I use Parking Cards on boundary streets with other boroughs?

If you use a Parking Card outside the Westminster boundary you are liable to enforcement action from the other borough.

13. Can Parking Cards be used for motorcycles?

Alternative payment methods should be used for motorcycles as the Parking Card cannot be securely displayed.

14. I have a disabled blue badge. Can I still benefit from 1hr free extra parking if using a Parking Card as payment?

Yes. You only have to display a £2.40 Parking Card showing your arrival date and time and you will get one hour free parking in addition to the Parking time covered by the Card.
