How do I upload a file?

To upload a file to your application you should click on the browse button and selecting the file from the location where it was saved.

How can I save proof documents on to my computer?

You can either:

• scan your proof documents using a scanner connected to your computer, or
• take photos of your proof documents on a camera (at least 2 megapixles) which you can connect to your computer, or
• take photos of your proof documents on a camera phone (at least 2 megapixles) so you can email your photos to your computer

Please make sure that all information on the documents can be clearly read.

If you are having problems uploading your documents, you can go Westminster library and use a Your One Stop Express machine and complete an online application with assistance from a member of staff. Click here for a list of participating libraries.

I don’t have a scanner, how can up upload my documents?

You can take photos of your proof documents on a camera or camera phone (at least 2 megapixles) rather than using a scanner. Please make sure that all information on the documents can be clearly read.

Which part of my proof documents do I need to upload?

• The online resident permit tool allows you to upload one document for each proof required
• For residency proofs we only need to see the page with your name and address information
• For vehicle proofs we only need to see the page with your vehicle information
  
  

How big can an upload document be?

Each document can be up to 5MB.

What file types are accepted?

How can I upload multiple documents for one proof?

You can’t, if your proof document is contained in more than one document you can copy all the files into one document such as word or powerpoint. You can then upload this file as one document.

Are my uploaded documents secure?

Yes, uploaded documents are stored and transmitted using encrypted technology to ensure their security.
