If you wish to place a skip on the street (public highway) you will need to apply for skip licence.
For skips placed in parking bays or on yellow lines you will also require a parking suspension or yellow line dispensation. You should obtain your licence before applying for a suspension or dispensation.
Skips should not exceed 1.10m in height, 3.22m in length and 1.90m in width.
Consent will not be given for Roll-on Roll-off containers to be placed on the highway in Westminster.
The maximum licence period for a skip is three months. After this time, you will need to renew your licence. Renewal is not automatic and will depend on the way works have been carried out during the period of the original licence.
Please note that you do not need consent to place a skip on private land. However, you must take due care if using the highway to load or unload. If a skip lorry has to cross a footway to gain access to private land, you must construct a temporary or permanent crossing in the footway.
