Residents and the Congestion Charging Zone

Are you a resident in the congestion charging zone? Enter your postcode here to find out which streets are inside the congestion charge zone.

If you live outside the congestion charging zone you will have to pay the congestion charge to enter the zone (unless you are entitled to another exemption or discount).

Residents living within the congestion charging zone should have received a registration pack through the post from the Transport for London (TfL) . Residents living within the congestion charging zone are eligible to register one private vehicle each for a 90% discount. An annual payment of £10 is required to register for this discount. Applications can be made by post.

What Form of Identification Is Required to Register?

The documents that residents will need to produce are:

• Proof of vehicle ownership - The original V5 registration document registered in the applicant's name or a company car authorisation letter (on headed paper, stating that the applicant is the sole user) or the vehicle lease document.
• Proof of residency - Westminster residents who already hold a resident's parking permit need only produce the permit or submit a photocopy.
  
  

Alternatively, they may produce any two originals of the following:

• income support book
• current bank or credit card statement
• Council tax bill
• property purchase document, formal tenancy agreement or housing association rent document
• current utility bill (but not a mobile phone bill)
  
  

These requirements will be familiar to most Westminster residents since they are based on Westminster' s resident permit system.
