Drivers of alternative fuel vehicles

Certain alternative fuelled vehicles are entitled to a 100% discount from the scheme. An annual payment of £10 is required to register for this discount.

What Vehicles Qualify?

To qualify for the discount, vehicles must be powered by an alternative fuel not solely petrol or diesel (bi/duel fuel vehicles are eligible) and the vehicle must meet strict emission requirements.

To find out whether a vehicle, or a conversion to reduce emissions on an old vehicle, meets the criteria, vehicles and suppliers can be looked up on the TransportEnergy PowerShift Register which is available at www.energysavingtrust.org.uk/business/Global-Data/Publications/Powershift-Register

Anybody with an alternative fuel vehicle, or considering a conversion, is strongly recommended to check these registers.

What Forms of Identification are Required to Register?

You will need to provide the following documents with your registration form:

• An original or a copy of your V5 (the vehicle registration document sent to you by the DVLA).
• The original or replacement document from the approved garage, installer or main dealer, that certifies the vehicle make, model, engine/conversion and emissions band.
