Many classic plays can be found in Westminster’s lending libraries, but thousands more are also available to consult in the Arts Reading Room at Westminster Reference Library.

Over half of these are not on the catalogue, because they are buried in annual anthologies and multi-volume series of dramatic texts going back to the sixteenth century, or reproduced in the pages of magazines such as Plays & Players or Plays International. An index of these titles is available at the library, so if you are having difficulty tracking down a script, contact us!

A lending collection of about 100 play sets is also available at this library.

A set counts as a single book issue, and the issue period is the same as for other books. You can browse through texts in this collection at the library, but you can download a list of what is available below. The number of copies in each set, which in most cases will reflect the number of main characters in the play, is also shown.
