Brilliant Britain is an entertaining compendium of the marvellous quirks, oddities and idiosyncrasies that define our nation and preserve us from the mundane and predictable.

Author, after-dinner speaker and beer sommelier Jane Peyton shows us some of her favourite traditions that makes Britain unique.

Accordian Pegram Library
Street Photography with Andrew Pegram

Thursday 11 July, 11.00am - 4.00pm

Spend a day with your camera and a professional looking at the world differently.

Andrew Pegram is a London-based printmaker and photographer who teaches and exhibits widely in the UK and abroad.

He will guide you through the niceties of taking photos of the unsuspecting in the streets around Charing Cross, of how to choose and frame your shot to capture a record of our society today.

There will be feedback on your images and the opportunity to exhibit your photographs in the library.

Booking is necessary and you should bring your digital camera.

Advocacy in the library for over 60s in the West End

2.00 - 4.00pm on Mondays, once a month

Advocacy Plus provide free, confidential and independent advocacy to support older people in Westminster. The advocate will:

  • Listen to your views
  • Inform you of your options
  • Represent  your wishes and speak on your behalf

They can assist in a wide range of areas – accessing social care, housing, health, homecare and complaints. If you are over 60, live in Westminster’s West End Ward and have a problem call into the library to speak to an advocate  who will discuss your options.
