Computer taster sessions

What is a taster session?

Are you new to computers or an internet beginner? Need a bit of help getting started or to become more confident and improve your web surfing skills? A computer taster session at your local library is an ideal place to start.

We have something for everyone, whether you are an absolute beginner or just want to find out what the internet has to offer.

Taster sessions can last for up to an hour and are bookable in advance at a time to suit you. See below for taster sessions on offer in Westminster libraries.

Taster sessions are free, just visit, email or ring to book a session. Why wait? Book your session now!

Marylebone Information Service

Sessions include:

  • Setting up a web e-mail account
  • Successful web searching
  • Using MS Office programs
  • Learn your way around your laptop

Mayfair Library

Available sessions include:

  • Beginners guide to the Internet
  • Opening and using a web e-mail account
  • Browsing and searching the Internet

If you are interested please contact Mayfair Library or drop in and we will arrange a session for you. Three hours tuition is available per person.

Westminster Reference Library

Run by friendly library staff, computer taster sessions can help you handle a mouse, send that special email, or improve on the computer skills you already have.

We can also help you:

  • Better locate and use our electronic resources
  • Set up and use a web email account
  • Use the Internet for better browsing and searching
  • Write a letter or create a CV using Microsoft Word and to use other Microsoft Office programmes
