About Oxford English Dictionary
If you thought that the 'shorter' Oxford English Dictionary (or OED for short) was big, then be aware that the full OED consists of 20 Volumes!
Not surprising perhaps when you consider that it is not only every word and its meanings that are listed but also its origins. This is also the case with the OED online, except of course that online the OED is updated every three months and is also a lot less heavy! More information regarding this online dictionary is available on the OED website itself.
This amazing resource is available in every Westminster library and also to anyone with a Westminster library card outside the library.
When outside the library just click sign in and a box for your library card number will appear at the top of the page; only enter this as no password is required.
