St James's Library [CLOSED]

St James's Library has now closed
The library closed its doors on 23 August 2011.
St James's customers can continue to use their Westminster Libraries membership across all our other libraries as before, and items can be returned to any library.
The nearest libraries to the St James's site are Victoria, Pimlico and the Express Library in the ground floor of the Archives Centre (SW1).
More about the decision to close the library:
Westminster City Council's budget for 2011/12 looks to make savings of £60million over the next two years.
Included in the budget was the closure of St James’s Library. This decision was not an easy one, and was only been made after ensuring all waste and back office savings have been exhausted, but with deep cuts in funding and falling income we have to live within our means.
The council is still committed to maintaining the library service and is aiming to open a brand new library in the next few years just a few minutes walk from the current St James’s Library site. There are also two other excellent local libraries in the area - Victoria and Pimlico - both of which are less than a mile from St James’s Library. The Home Library Service will continue for those people who struggle to get out and about.
