About the sessions for Under 5s

What are they?

Westminster Libraries organise special activity sessions for all children from birth to four years old. They are designed to help children to develop their concentration, co-ordination and comprehension skills through the use of books, songs, finger rhymes, nursery rhymes and poetry.

Parents/Carers are asked to sit with their children and help them with the programme. This helps build up a relationship based on learning between parents and children, and gives them the opportunity to meet with others who have children of a similar age.

What do the sessions involve?

The sessions are based around storytelling, singing, and rhymes. The use of action rhymes, puppets and pictures help to make the programme more interesting to children.

Advice on suitable books and approaches to reading for the 0 - 4 age group is provided.
