Bookstart
Bookstart is a national programme which aims to provide a free pack of books to every baby in the UK, to inspire, stimulate and create a love of reading that will give children a flying start in life.
Many parents are surprised to learn that babies can benefit from books at such an early age, but research shows that babies and toddlers who love books begin reading sooner and have a better chance at school.
Most of a child's language comes from the adults around them. Enjoying books with babies and toddlers is a wonderful way to increase language skills and helps children to understand their world.
Children are never too young to start loving books!
How do I get my child's Bookstart pack in Westminster?

Baby pack 0 - 12 months
Packs are usually given out to babies at around 8 months by their health visitor. If you didn't receive a pack at that health check ask at your local library. Remember to take your child's health record book along with you.
Treasure Chest 36 - 48months
Ask your child's nursery when they have arranged for their Bookstart gifting day. If your child is not in nursery, you can pick up his/her pack from your local library.
Please note Bookstart is only for children aged under four. One of each pack per child.
