Chapter 01: Printed books and pamphlets

The Archives Centre's Library Collection contains some 23,000 books and pamphlets relating to Westminster's local history, and is classified by a modified Dewey scheme. In addition there is a large reference collection on London generally.

Notable series in the collection include:

  • Middlesex volumes of the Victoria History of the Counties of England;
  • All volumes of the Survey of London;
  • Harleian Society publications, including parish register transcriptions, allegations for marriage licences, gentry lists, obituaries, grants of arms;.
  • Huguenot Society publications.

The pamphlet collection contains booklets, periodical articles, and ephemera.

The Archives Centre's book and pamphlet collections can be searched via Westminster Libraries' on-line catalogue.

An index to the Centre's collection of Acts of Parliament relating to the Westminster area is available in the Archives Search Room.
