13. Discovery of the Plot in the Hay Loft at Cato Street, 1820
An oppressive government which did not represent the people (80% had no vote), culminating in the Peterloo massacre of 1819, led Davidson and the others to seek a quick road to reform. A government spy betrayed them to the police, and an officer was fatally stabbed during the arrest in their meeting place near the Edgware Road.
