04. Robert Jenando (1673 -1716)
At the age of six, Robert Jenando, born in Guinea, became a page to the Duke of Devonshire, living at Berkeley House, a mansion in Piccadilly. In 1692 he married 16 year old Margaret, who may have been a fellow servant. It is now 1736, and Margaret, a widow, is telling her story to the magistrate to whom she has come to ask for help.
