Paddington Recreation Ground - winner

A major £4 million programme of regeneration has resulted in a variety of outstanding sport and physical activity facilities for the whole community.  The site attracts over one million visits per year provides an excellent city wide resource.

Jubilee Hall - highly commended

Jubilee Hall offers discounted gym membership to those who need despite receiving no direct public funding. More than one in five of the centre’s regular users receive concessionary membership because they are unemployed, disabled or otherwise disadvantaged. Jubilee Hall also offers the Champions of the Future scheme by offering them free membership.

Community groups can use the studio space free of charge or heavily discounted and in the last year they have hosted activities from line dancing for older people to karate for children and self-defence classes for homeless women. The centre has provided free football coaching to St. Clement Dane’s School and free dance classes for older people in community venues.

Queen Mother Sports Centre - highly commended

In the past 12 months, the Queen Mother Sports Centre has grown its inclusive and intervention programme, encouraging all the community to take part in its activities. These include new women only sessions, over 50s classes and child obesity management sessions.
