Will this affect my benefits?

No.  All the advice is given free and we may also be able to organise extra help with childcare and travel costs.  Whatever stands between you and the job you want, we will try to find ways of removing the barriers.

How long is the programme?

This is up to you.  Some people may find a job straight away.  Others may need a longer training course or work placement.  Some people don't feel very confident about going to work or they don't know what kind of job would suit them.  We can help you identify the skillls you already have and match them to what local employers are looking for.

Will you be able to help after I've found work?

Your personal advisor will carry on supporting you once you start work.  They can help you plan for your career and persuade your employer to let you carry on with free training to improve your prospects of promotion.

I can't work full time.  Can I still join?

Yes.  Some of our advisors specialise in finding jobs for people like mothers with young children who can only work part-time.

What can I do if I have young children?

If you have young children, you may be able to get support with childcare costs.  The Westminster Family Information Service can give you advice on the types of childcare available in your area and their contact details.  You should begin to think very early about the type of childcare that will best suit the needs of your family, as finding childcare for your children can take time.  If you are thinking about going to college then the Learning Support Advisor at the college will also be able to help you.
