Safe and Secure Grant

Who is eligible?

Anyone can claim this grant if they have been burgled in the past 12 months.

Owner-occupiers, private tenants and housing association tenants can also claim this grant if they are:

  • Over 60 or
  • Under 60 and receiving an income related benefit or
  • Disabled

City Council tenants can also claim this grant if they are:

  • Over 60 or
  • Disabled

Please note that eligible income related 'benefits' are as follows;

  • Income support
  • Housing benefit
  • Council tax benefit
  • Income based job seekers allowance
  • Guaranteed pension credit

All installation work is carried out by Westminster Maintenance Services.

For more information on crime prevention, please contact the Crime Prevention Officer at your local police station.

What works are involved?

Eligible works include additional door and window locks, smoke detectors, door viewer, door chain, fire blanket and security lights.

How do I apply for this grant?

Contact Residential Environmental Health who will arrange for the Council's Contractor to visit you and determine the works necessary to your home. When this has been approved by the Council, the Contractor will carry out the work. The grant covers 100% of the eligible works cost.
