What is Westminster Home Improvement Agency?

Westminster Home Improvement Agency (WHIA) supports vulnerable residents to maintain independence and live comfortably and safely in their own homes. 

Our main role is to ensure you stay safe, warm and secure in your home.  

This includes providing advice and assistance with repairs, improvements and adaptations for clients whose homes require works.

We are also able to apply for financial grant aid on your behalf for works recommended by Occupational Therapists. Eligibility for this grant is determined by Government rules.

Assistance available

• Disabled facilities grant - to help adapt homes for disabled people.
• Decent homes grant - home improvements relating to heating, insulation and home repairs.
• Handyperson scheme - minor repair or replacement work in the home for owner occupiers and tenants in Westminster.
• Safe and secure scheme - Helping older people and burglary victims with home security.
• Sanctuary scheme - for people at threat of domestic violence.
