Key Service Achievements 2010/11
  • Delivered master plan in Church St and made significant progress on the Brunel, Ebury Bridge, Tollgate Gardens and Westbourne Green housing renewal areas.
  • Reduced the number of households in temporary accommodation from 2,041 at start of the year to 1,726 households at 31 March 2011.
  • 311 affordable homes delivered in the year.
  • 199 intermediate homes delivered in the year.
  • Completed the first community build units in February 2011 in the form of 14 new and refurbished units at the Little Venice and Bourne Terrace undercrofts.
  • Completed the Settled Homes programme with 142 homes delivered over the period of the scheme.
  • 83 rough sleepers counted at March 2011 Count, the lowest number since November 2009.
  • Held a half day stakeholder event in November to explore the future direction for the commissioning of intermediate housing in Westminster. 
  • Home Ownership Westminster – the affordable housing service run for Westminster by Catalyst Housing Group – awarded ‘Outstanding Achievement’ prize at the National Affordable Home Ownership Awards.
  • High level of council tenant satisfaction with landlord service (79%)
  • 598 households assisted to relieve the pressures of overcrowding.
  • Average time taken to resolve the needs of persons needing major adaptations in the private sector (LAA) significantly improved from 22 weeks to 11 weeks.
  • The Berwick Street hostel redevelopment is complete and occupied, providing support to young people in housing need
  • The Irish Centre Housing hostel and the Refugee Housing service were successfully decanted and decommissioned as supported housing services
  • Achieved £2.4m of savings against the Supporting People budget.
  • Employment and training support provided to 137 homeless households through the HELP project
