Housing supply projections
At the start of the financial year (April), we estimate how many permanent homes we think will become available for letting during that year. We look at the supply we received last year, check how many housing association properties might become available and see if any new developments are due to be completed. We then break this down further and work out roughly how many properties of each size will become available.
Setting the projections
We then decide how many of these properties should be distributed to people on each waiting list. This is called the 'projections'. By setting the 'projections' in this way, we make sure that all groups get a fair chance to bid and be housed.
As the year progresses, we monitor how many people from each waiting list have been housed. Once any particular group has received its full 'projection' of properties for that particular year, their list will be suspended and they will not be able to bid again until April the following year.
