Category A Medical Priority
If your housing has a serious negative effect on your health, you might qualify for Category A Medical Priority. Both existing council tenants and other applicants can qualify for this priority group.
Who qualifies?
You might qualify if:
- Your housing seriously worsens your medical condition. For example, you live in a building where a structural defect causes damp. You suffer from a severe chest condition and the damp is making this much worse.
- Your housing seriously affects your ability to cope or your quality of life. For example, you have recently had a leg amputation and cannot manage any stairs. You live in a flat on the first floor, with no lift.
How to apply
Please complete a medical assessment form and return it to HOS along with your housing application form.
Our Medical Adviser will look at your circumstances and will contact your GP for more information, if necessary. She will then make recommendations about your case and we will decide whether you qualify for Category A Medical Priority.
